Lakers

The Lakers are my favorite pro basketball team. They had a great season but I have been a little frustrated with their playoff intensity. Everyone expected them to blow through the Western Conference and then face the Cavaliers. I think this caused them to lack the same intensity they used to get the second best record in the NBA. They beat the Jazz in five games which isn't bad but took seven games to beat the Rockets. In the Rockets series after winning a game by 40 Points! they lose the next game by 15. How can you possibly do that? Maybe the Rockets are pretty good but common, 55 point swing? The Nuggets who won 11 less games then the Lakers in the regular season easily beat the Mavericks and Hornets. Thankfully the Lakers won game one against the Nuggets or else they would be in a hole against a much better team then the Jazz and Rockets. GO LAKERS!

The Capitals

I am not a big hockey fan but I will occasionally watch some games. I will watch the Stanley Cup, and some of the other playoffs series, and starting last year the Capitals. Before last year they were bad for about seven years (which is about when I started watching sports). then at about the mid-way point of the 2007-08 season they went from being one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference to winning their division. I for one of the first times ever then watched their series against the Philadelphia Flyers. They came back from 3-1 to 3-3 in the series, but lost in overtime at home to end their season. This season I was afraid that after went down 3-1 in the series they would have another early postseason exit. But after coming back to win the series I have high hopes for their making it to the Eastern Conference finals and beyond. I believe this because after being befuddled by Ludquinst (not sure on the spelling)(the Ranger's goalie) in three of the first four game they didn't give up. They scored four goals in game five, five in game six, and in the decisive game seven after scoring only one goal in the first 55 minutes they scored a second (which ended up being the game winning goal). Ludquinst was great but in my opinion the rest of the team was demoralized and didn't give 100%. in the final five minutes after the Caps had taken the lead (2-1) Ludquinst had a couple of great saves and the other Rangers played without urgency. Normally when you are losing in the last couple of minutes of a game then you shot a lot and you are almost always on the attack. But instead the Capitals often were on the attack and the Ranger's didn't hustle for the puck.

Now the Capitals have a 2-1 series lead on the Penguins. In the first two games, after having the game tied going into the third period they scored the game winner and kept the lead for the rest of the game. Varlamov has been sensational. 30+ plus saves in each of the games so far in the series. Including probabley the best goal of the playoffs. After leaving the goal he stuck he goalie stick to block the incoming puck, the stick pulled the puck back about an inch from crossing the line. In game three he was good but not good enough. The Caps even though they lost I think showed that they can win even if they aren't at Verizon Center. GO CAPS!

Baseball

I guess by now you think that I am a big basketball fan/player well I guess that after you read this article you will think I am a big sports fan. While I don't play baseball I definately like to watch it. I'm big Red Sox fan but will root for others team when they are not playing the Red Sox if I like them. Sometimes I root for teams because of players sometimes I just like the style and the attitude of the team. This time of year there are some good games but I cannot wait for the postseason because that is where the best games often happen.

I'm pretty happy with the Red Sox after they turned a bad start (2-6) into a reasonable (7-6) record. And look what they did to the Orioles down 7-0 in the first game of their series they came back to win that game 10-8 and eventually swept the series. My big concern is that David Ortiz will have another so-so season like last year. But if he plays this year like David Ortiz normally does, I have high hopes for another trip to the postseason and a World Series title. Also if Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youkilis can have another great season along with Big Papi that would further increase their chances for another World Series. Although Pedroia got the MVP I thought that Youkilis had a season that was also of MVP caliber. SOX ALL THE WAY!

Nerf

I LOVE NERF! It is just so much fun to play with Nerf stuff. Although it is annoying when you always lose the bullets. Whether you are using the Nerf guns with the bullets or simply throwing the bullets (which works surprisingly well if you throw them correctly). You can spend endless hours praticing your aim and playing with friends. And just when you get bored, Nerf comes out with a new gun. I am personally a fan on the six barreled Nerf gun (although the 10 shot that has to be pumped is cool, but then regretably it has to be pumped to shoot.)

March Madness

As I have proved in my previous articles I am a BIG basketball fan. The NBA is OK to watch but the superstars get all the brakes and nobody plays defense. College basketball is what to watch. Especially the league tournaments and the NCAA tournament. Making a bracket is fun because you want to see you skills with predicting and you can compete with friends.

During the season in college the games are often between no names and the top ten. Leading to very predictable blowouts. In the NCAA tournament there are plenty of blowouts but every team has a chance to win, even if they are a 16 seed (not very likely). This season there have been some great upsets. American coming close to beating Villanova, Cleveland State beating Wake Forest, Arizona beating Utah, and some more minor upsets. I am personally a UNC fan and am pulling for them to win the national championship. Even if don't win I would be disappointed but simply watching so many good games is worth it.

The best world record

I think that the best world record to have is fastest man. I mean just think about how cool that is, you are the fastest person in the world. It also shows that you worked incredibly hard for something. You have to spend years working on your start, the middle of the race, and a good finish. Even after all of that work it comes down to a little under 10 seconds. If you have a bad start, your lose if you don't accelerate fast enough your lose.

Costco

I love the store Costco. One reason is the chocolate muffins. They're huge, and they have chocolate chips in them. Whenever I have them for breakfast I wish I could have them every morning. I love donuts but if I had to choose between donuts and Costco chocolate muffin, no doubt in my mind, chocolate muffin wins.
I also love their pizza. They have the biggest pizza slices and they're just so good! They never burn the pizza which is the problem with a lot of pizzas'. The sauce if you eat it folded, runs down the sides there is so much. And there is so much cheese, although sadly it sometimes comes off in a big bite. So that is why I LOVE COSTCO!

Basketball

(This article is a continuation of my article Sports)

My original basketball after all its bad luck finally one a championship the year after my other team. I had broken my finger early in the season and had to miss a couple games. The games didn't matter though because they were just seeding games. We were placed in a low division as we hadn't done well in the seeding games. I came back after missing one of the regular season games. Although my playing was short lived as I broke my foot three weeks after coming back from the finger injury.

My team was not hurt by my injury and it actually helped because it allowed for our best players to play more. We didn't do well in the regular season and were the lowest seed in the playoffs. This seemed like it would lead to another disappointing season but we beat the second seed in the opening round in the playoffs. Then we beat a team that had two players who used to play for our team who we have a rivalry of sorts with. After our second win, we were in the championship game. The team we were playing had beaten us by a close margin during the regular season so we knew what to expect from them. The game was a good one. We were down early, but after some good shots we managed to take a two point lead. Our lead was never more than four points throughout the game. Going into the final minute we had a two point lead after one of our centers made two free throws. The other team took a couple shots but none fell. Although we had two different one and ones we missed both of the free throws. In the closing seconds they took a shot from the baseline but we pressured the player and he shot an air ball. So the final score of the game was 24-22 with us winning. We had finally one a championship!

Harry Potter

I love the Harry Potter series! The seventh book is my favorite followed by book four. The plot is just so good and it was amazing to see everthing come together in the seventh book. All the little details that J. K. Rowling had put in all the books finally ment something and the ending was great. I was afraid that after the seventh book that there would still be a lot of unaswered questions but J. K. Rowling tied off all loose ends. The movies have also been ok in my opinion, which I would consider good because most books to movies are bad. Although the movies miss a lot of the best parts of the books for books that long they do a good job. I think that the only time that a book to a movie has been great was the Lord of the Rings which is a great series but not quite as good as Harry Potter.

Young me

When I was much younger I used to be the most mischievous little kid. I locked my aunt and my grandmother out of my house because I didn't like my aunt. My dad once ate the last piece of cake; I thought that piece was mine so I was mad at him for months. I also buried my mom's wedding ring in the backyard.
On my sister's birthday I took and hid her favorite present. Then for the next two months or so I led her on wild goose chases pretending to tell her where the present was until finally showing her where it was.

Sports

I love to watch and play sports. When I was two I could toss a ball and hit it with a bat. When I was six I started watching sports. My dad and I watched the World Series which was my first experience watching sports which I remember. When I was seven I started playing on a soccer team. Also when I was seven I started swimming on the swim team. When I was nine I started playing on a basketball team. I was also nine when I started playing on a tennis team. When I was 12 I started playing on a second basketball team.

My original basketball team went undefeated the first season. The next season we only lost once and had a tie but lost to a team that we had beat twice in the regular season. The next year we lost three times but again lost to a team we had beaten twice in the regular season. The year after that we only won one game and lost in the semifinals to the only team we beat.

My other basketball team lost two games in the regular season but ended winning the championship. We won 3 or 4 games in the regualr by 5 points or less which gave us a lot of experience in the playoffs. The first game of the regular season we were down by 14 points but after pressing most of the second half came back to win the game by one point. But by far the most intense game was the semifinals in the playoffs. With a 35 seconds to go and the score tied I made one of two free throws to give my team a one point lead. Then the other team scored after having the ball for about 20 seconds. My teammate then took a jumper just within the three point and made it. The other coach called a time out. 10 seconds left and we were winning by one. They passed it to our best player who drove to the basket. He took a shot and missed but was fouled. Two shots. He took the first shot. He missed but my teammate who made the jumper steped over the line. So he got an extra shot. He missed the second. We were all so anxious, he missed the third free throw. Our center rebounded the ball and we won. The championship game was not nearly so interesting. After getting a 20 point lead my coach started taking the starters out. The other team got our lead down to four but simply ran out of time. We ended up winning by four.

Broken Bones

This is something I have experienced many times. I broke my arm when I was four. I broke my collar bone when I was seven. I broke my left foot when I was eight. I broke my right when I was 10. I broke my pinkie on my right hand when I was 13. I broke my left foot again when I was also 13.

All the breaks were major hindrances. But with out a doubt breaking of the foot was the most inconvenient. Stairs are very hard to navigate. You can barely carry anything. The most annoying is definitely stealing of the crutches. People you don't know, don't like, and even your friends will at anytime take your cruthces and start using them. You know that using cruthces hurts and they aren't toys.
